High Efficiency for Small Spaces

Sternvent cabinet style filter bag DG and DS dust collectors are compact and fit in small spaces. They feature flat envelope shaped filters and a manual shaker handle. Ideal for non-production, low volume powders, steel or wood dust. Available with HEPA filters for maximum filtration efficiency.

Sizes

The dirty air stream enters the inlet which is located in the top section. The air goes down and makes a 180° turn upward, causing the heavier particles to fall into the dust container. The fine dust particles are pulled to the filter pockets. A dust cake forms on the filter media, which assists in the filtration. Clean air is able to pass through the filter media and out the fan exhaust. Excess dust on the filters is shaken off by the shaker handle after the fan is turned off. Filtration efficiency is 99.9% for wood and steel dust.

Rugged & Reliable for Intermittent Operations

The Vibraclean, with its automatic vigorous motorized shaker, is ideal for an intermittent operation where a manual shaker is not sufficient and a jet pulsed collector is overkill. Semi-rigid multi-pocket filters with fixed spacing provide more usable filter area than dust collector with soft flexible filters. The heavy-duty eccentric driven shaker vibrates the filters clean. The backward inclined factory mounted & wired fan with discharge silencer is quiet and efficient. They are designed for small to medium size industrial applications, as well as school & maintenance shops.

Sizes

Sternvent offers 11 sizes, 1,000- 9,000 cfm, of the Vibraclean in three styles; 55 gallon drum, bin drawer & rotary airlock. Direct drive, as well as belt drive fans are available. Paint finish can be color matched to the building exterior.

The Workhorse of Dust Control

Sternvent cyclone dust collectors are among the most cost effective and reliable type of dust collection available today. The cyclones can be a primary collector, with or with out the optional after filter, for dusts of moderate to coarse particle sizes. In addition, the Sternvent cyclone can be used as a pre-cleaner for more filtration efficient dust collectors such as, jet pulse cartridge or bag style, by removing the larger particles from the air stream, resulting in longer filter life.

Sizes

Sternvent offers 11 sizes, 8 00-12,000 cfm, of cyclones in three styles; 55 gallon drum, storage hopper & rotary airlock. They are designed for small to medium size industrial applications, as well as school & maintenance shops.

Principle of Operation

The dirty air stream enters the tangential inlet of the cyclone at high velocity, creating a vortex or cyclone pattern. Centrifugal energy forces the dust particles to hug the wall of the cyclone and spin downwards into the dust drum or hopper. The air is able to peel away from the wall and exit the cyclone exhaust outlet, almost dust-free. Except for the fan, there are no moving or replaceable parts in the cyclone, thereby making it almost maintenance-free. Filtration efficiency is 99% for wood and steel dust and 99.9% when filters are included. (Fine particles, such as flour dust and large light weight pieces, such as paper trim or scrap, are not suitable for our high velocity cyclones since they do not have enough mass or density and tend to float in the cyclone and escape the cyclonic action. Large wood particles from a production planer or moulder require a cyclone one or two sizes larger because of the heavy loading aerodynamics of the particles.)

The Filters for Cyclones

Sternvent after filters capture the fine dust that is not separated from the air stream of a cyclone dust collector. Simple and efficient, the after filters allow return of filtered air to the building or to comply with EPA requirement when exhausting the air outdoors.

Sizes

Sternvent offers 3 sizes, 6 00-6,000 cfm, of after filters in two styles; 55 gallon drum & dust chamber. Available for indoor installation or outdoors, when ordered with weatherproof enclosure. Filters are available 11-1/2” 05 5” diameter in polyester felt or cotton sateen. Ceiling hung and floor-mounted units are available.

Principle of Operation

The dirty air stream enters the plenum horizontally; the filters hang from the plenum. The air and dust go down, inside of the filter bags. The dust is stored in the 11-1/2 diameter filters. The 5” diameter filters are tubes that allow the dust to be deposited in the airtight 55 gallon drum or chamber.

Some models are available with a motorized shaker to loosen the dust particles from the filters, to restore suction. Filtration efficiency is typically 99.9%. (For production operations, additional filter media is suggested. For sticky or agglomerating dust, a pulse jet style dusty collector should be used instead of the after filter.)

Sternvent SternPulse SPV dust collectors are the solution for in-plant air quality problems, when the process is continuous or the dust is very fine. Designed with 99.99% efficient vertical pleated filter cartridges that slide in and out on tracks, (except SPV-04),the SternPulse can operate 24/7. Cartridge collectors have many significant advantages over bag style collectors; cartridge filters have higher filtration efficiency, more compact and filters are changed from outside of the dust collector.

Sternvent offers four sizes, 1,000- 5,000 cfm, of the SternPulse SPV with 16, 33 or 55 gallon dust container. The SPV are designed for small to medium size industrial applications, such as pharmaceutical or chemical dusts, powder paint and welding smoke.

The filter cartridges are 99.99% efficient and slide in and out horizontally. The SPH has a small footprint, compared to other dust collectors and has a modular design that allows us to customize it for your needs.

Sternvent offers 7 sizes, 1,000- 24,000 cfm, of the SternPulse SPH in two styles; 55 gallon drum & rotary airlock. They are designed for small to medium size industrial applications, such as pharmaceutical or chemical dusts, powder paint and welding smoke.

As the dust cake increases and resists the air flow, short bursts of compressed air, from inside the filters forces some of the dust cake to be displaced from the filters and fall into the funnel and airtight dust container. Sternvent CCP (continuous cleaning pulse) bag house dust collectors are the solution for in-plant air quality problems. Use when pulse jet cartridge style collector is not suitable because the dust particles are not free flowing or dust loading is heavy. The CCP filters are 99.9% efficient vertical filter tubes that are installed with wire cages through the access door and are clamped to venturis. The CCP can operate 24/7.

Sizes

Sternvent offers four sizes, 1,000- 9,000 cfm, of the CCP with 55 gallon dust container or rotary airlock discharge. The CCP is designed for small to medium size industrial applications, such as chemical, rock, cement dusts.

  • PPO Models

The solution for NFPA indoor woodworking dust collectors

Although the preferred location for a dust collector is outdoors for fire and explosion safety, there are times when the dust collector must be located indoors. When an enclosed dust collector for wood dust is 1500 CFM or greater and installed indoors, the enclosure must have an explosion vent ducted with a short duct to the outdoors, per NFPA 664. If there is no exterior wall, then it is not possible to duct the explosion vent. In these situations, the PPO should be considered, since it is enclosure less & does not require explosion venting. Follow the NFPA requirements for enclosureless dust collectors.

Sizes

Sternvent offers 5 sizes, 1,500-5,000 cfm, of PPO dust collectors. Filters are 11” diameter polyester felt. The fan has a material handling impeller and is belt drive low speed radial design.

Principle of Operation

The dirty air stream enters the fan inlet and is blown into the plenum horizontally. Heavy particles go down into the clear plastic storage bags. The bottom of the filters is open and attached to the plenum. The top of the filters are closed and hang from the support. The air & fine dust go inside of the filter bags. The air passes through the filter media, while the dust forms a dust mat on the inside surface of the filters. When the fan is off, the filters relax and loose dust falls into the plastic bags.

  • Down Draft Bench

Rugged Bench with Downward Suction

The Sternvent Down Draft Bench provides a work surface with openings for a down draft to capture dust particles from power tool hand sanding or grinding of steel, fiberglass or composite objects. Dust particles are contained within the bench and sucked down through the heavy-duty grating.

Sizes

Sternvent offers two models: DDB 1507 and VCB 36007 with work surfaces of 36“X 60 and 27”X56” respectively.

Principle of Operation

Dust particles are captured either directly by the downward suction through the grating or first hit the side shields and located on three sides of the table. A perimeter slot and baffle provides maximum suction at the front of the table. Suction is provided by the factory mounted fan. The fine dust particles are pulled to the filter pockets. A dust cake forms on the filter media, which assists in the filtration. Clean air is able to pass through the filter media and out the fan exhaust. Excess dust on the filters is vigorously shaken off by the handle or motor driven shaker. Filtration efficiency is 99.9% for wood & steel dust.

  • Mist Collector

The Sternvent MistCheck is a simple and efficient source capture mist collector, designed to capture 99%+ of coolant mists and smoke from metalworking operations, as well as oils used in the food industry. It is effective for both petroleum and water-based oils.

Sternvent offers 4 sizes, 1,000- 6,000 cfm, of the MistCheck.

Principle of Operation

Mist laden air is captured at the source with suitable hoods and ducts. The polluted air is drawn into the inlet of the MistCheck by the suction of the fan. The air makes a 90 (degree symbol) turn prior to entering the first stage of filtration, allowing for dropout of large particles. The first stage is a washable aluminum mesh filter that collects fine droplets and smaller particles. The remaining smaller and submicron particles are captured by the 36” deep extended surface, multi-pocket oil bag filter. The collected oil mists released through the oil drain at the bottom of the inlet plenum. Clean air is discharged back into the work space from the fan.
